55. Zach Theatre

Family Friendly, Random Fun, Things To Do In Austin | 24 Feb 2010

Looking for a laugh tonight to make it through Hump Day, then venture out to see The Flaming Idiots at The ZACH Theatre.

The ZACH Theatre was founded in 1932 and is one of the most vibrant, unique, and culturally innovative theatres’ in Austin. You do not even have to be one that appreciates the arts to think the shows are just phenomenal. Not to mention, there is not a bad seat in the house. Their involvement in the community, genuine talent and passion for what they are doing makes it all worth supporting local arts.

In short, this sums of the mission of the ZACH Theatre, “we seek in our work to not only reflect Austin, but to inspire, encourage, motivate, and engage Austinites in vital dialogues which have resonance in our community on topics like race, gender, sexuality, freedom, responsibility, and compassion among many others.” They said it better than I could have so there you have it.

Another list item that I am saying one must do to call themselves a true Austinite.

The Flaming Idiots will be in Austin through March 28th.  They bring Braodway to Austin in a way that will have you laughing out loud more than once. Prepare to be amazed as you watch their jugglin’, jokin’, throwin’, swallowin’, leapin’ and conquerin’ spectacle on stage. It is where free-spirit meets footloose, you have to see it be appreciate it.
