100. Hula Hut

Family Friendly, Restaurants, Things To Do In Austin | 10 Apr 2010

To start off Happy 100th Day of 2010, hope the decade has been good to you so far. I wanted to think of something great to blog on – it being the 100th day of the year and all but then I just decided to go ahead and blog on one of my all time favorite things about Austin, Hula Hut.

Hula Hut it is today, fortunately for me my office is on the other side of the parking lot so I am a regular and it never gets old.

I love that it is always summer there and with summer right around the corner this is your spot for drinks on the lake. I think they have some of the best queso in town and one of my top three favorite mango margaritas. They also make a mean set of nachos, it probably has something to do with the fact that I love their chips and salsa, chips and salsa make or break a Mexican place for me. I never leave there hungry, so good and plenty of food for the money.

They are priced fair, I think for what you are getting you could not ask for more. I LOVE their food, I honestly could eat Hula Hut five days a week and it would never get old, I tried to go their for breakfast yesterday, only to find out they do not open until 11:00.

Great place to take out of town guests, eat outside, get drinks.

Truth is: parking can be hassle but well worth it. Hey, if you happen to be lucky enough to be on a boat you can just pull up and dock. Also, even on a rainy day you mostly likely will find yourself waiting for a table but they have a great bar and you can get chips and dip while waiting so it could be worse… aren’t all good things worth the wait.

I will also say that EVERYONE has their opinion of this place, some people love to hate it for reasons I do not know but for the record its worth a try.

Well, 100 days has been a huge milestone for me, I can only hope that the next 100 will be just as much as an adventure.
