163. ROT Rally

Festivals, Random Fun, Things To Do In Austin | 12 Jun 2010

I must confess, I am not expert on the Republic of Texas Biker Rally (ROT) so feel free to leave comments about the best places to be around town as I do know there are events going on all over. I do know that this city is swarming with bikes it makes sense since this is the largest motorcycles rally in Texas, last year it drew in over 60,000 bikers.  It is also among the largest rallies in the country and one of the best and most organized in the world.

Events at the Expo Center include bands, bike shows, custom bike builders, The World Famous Wall of Death, comedians, dealers, distributers, tattoo contests, contests for the ladies, stunt riders, over 350 vendors and much, much more.

Word on the street and internet is Bret Michaels will be performing Saturday night at Rot Amphitheater, but in light of his recent medical issues I am not sure, I tried to confirm it but haven’t been able too – by the looks of it I think he is still a yes.

Basically, its all bikes, all weather,  all weekend. Austinites bear with the bikes and be aware that there are downtown road closings and an expected over 200,000 bikers and spectators in the Austin area this weekend. So let’s show them what a great town we are.

Random ROT Trivia – in 2006 the Guinness Book of World Records certified the ROT Parade as the “Longest Parade of Motocycles.”

Location:
Travis County Expo Center
7311 Decker Lane
Austin, Texas 78724

I was there 2 days. My daughter & I were lucky enough to see Dee Snyder from Twisted Sister!!! I was excited. She was trying to remember where she heard the song before! :) We loved checking out all the different bikes. We had fun, & hopefully will attend again this year.
