171. Father’s Day In the Park

Family Friendly, Free things to do in Austin, Live Music, Outside, Things To Do In Austin | 20 Jun 2010

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there. A special shout out to my Dad, hey big guy, wish I could be spending the day with you.

The Austin Symphonic Orchestra celebrates dad with this annual concert at the Zilker Hillside Theater. The Zilker Theater has been providing family oriented musical entertainment for over 52 years. It is the longest running outdoor production of its type in the United States.

This annual concert to celebrate date is filled with marches, patriotic melodies, and other family works that are perfect for an evening in the park.

All you need is a blanket or some lawn chairs to head on out. You can make an evening of it all and pack a picnic for dad.

This is a great way to spend Sunday evening with dad under the Pecan Trees at the Hillside Theatre. Leave to Austin to have a place where you can come outside and hear some great live music.

Speaking of parks, if dad is not into seeing a concert you can always head out to the Ballpark as the Round Rock Express is playing Omaha tonight at 7:05.

Time: 7:30-9:30pm

Location:
Right across from Barton Spring Pool – here are directions. http://www.zilker.org/thehill.html
