177. Keep Austin Weird Festival & 5K

Family Friendly, Festivals, Live Music, Outside, Random Fun, Things To Do In Austin | 26 Jun 2010

Here we are with a day that embraces what we are all about as a city. It is time again for the 8th Annual Keep Austin Weird Festival. The festival gets going this afternoon at 2:00 at the South First Street Bridge.

They will have live music and plenty of local Austin products to keep you entertained and full. A few worth mentioning in my opinion are Amy’s Ice Cream, Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka, Republic Tequila, Phil’s Ice House, Gibson, Austin’s Pizza and plenty more.

The Live Music line up for the day goes like this:
2:00- The Paul Green School of Rock
3:30- Dustin Welch
5:00- Bruce James Soultet
6:30- White Ghost Shivers
8:30- The Bright Light Social Hour

For the 5K, get your weirdest, wildest, wackiest costumes and come out for what seems like Halloween in midsummer.  The Keep Austin Weird Fun Run is unofficially known as the “slowest 5k you’ll ever run.” They really put the “fun” in fun run because as far as I am concerned what is not to like about a stop along the way that includes Amy’s Ice Cream.

The Fun Run will have prizes for the weirdest costumes. Plenty of food before & after the race along with plenty of fun stops along the way. It is truly a one of a kind a event in the Capital City.

Time: Festival starts at 2:00-10:00pm
5K: 7:00pm

So Get Up, Get Out There and Keep Austin Weird.
