198. Bark in the Park
Family Friendly, Outside, Random Fun, Things To Do In Austin | 17 Jul 2010It is dog month in Austin, Texas. Are you ready for Austin’s First Annual Bark in the Park? Bark in the Park is a dog friendly community event promoting responsible pet ownership through outreach and education. The event benefits several non-profit rescue organizations here in town, they can always use as much help as possible! My heart always breaks for homeless furry friends!
Seeing as this is the first Annual I really have no idea what to expect. But I know my dog Brady loves the dog park and I imagine it is going to be like that but with vendors and a bunch of dog centered activities.
Get there early to enjoy “Breakfast with the Beagles” don’t worry all dogs are more than welcome! So pack you picnic and pooch and come out for a day of dog friendly fun. Yes, they will have concessions but it is encouraged to bring a picnic, do not forget plenty of water!
Here are some highpoints you can expect to see throughout the day.
Eco-Dog (fitness, eco-friendly products, clothing, demos, etc)
Wellness and Vet Care (food, Vets, general care, massage, alternative medicine)
Training and Behavior/Other Services (includes grooming, boarding, and individual services)
Retail & Rescue (retail shops, product sales other than food / treats, specialty… and rescue groups)
A silent auction, themed as “Art for Dog Lovers” will showcase a collection of fine art and funky creations all incorporating dogs somewhere in the artist’s work. Proceeds to benefit “Share.Care.Sandy.” project.
Grand Finale at 3pm with ‘Major Prize Giveaway’ TBD – must be present to win.
To be honest, I am not sure of the cost, I think it is a $5.00 donation?!
Time: 8:30am-3:00pm
Location:
Zilker Hillside Theater (same place as yesterday’s event!)
Across from Barton Springs Pool
