201. Asleep at the Wheel Live at Waterloo Records
Family Friendly, Free things to do in Austin, Live Music, Things To Do In Austin | 20 Jul 2010We’re a city that loves music, especially when it’s local. Austin favorite, Asleep at the Wheel, is celebrating their 40th anniversary and has teamed up with Leon Rausch for their latest CD, “It’s a Good Day.”
They’re having a FREE concert tonight at their CD release party at Waterloo Records. I love an opportunity to see some great music for free and Waterloo Records is an Austin institution, in itself. These two together make for a great stop on your ride home today. Plus taking the opportunity to see them at Waterloo Records is a much more intimate setting than many of their concert locations!
Word is Asleep at the Wheel left Oakland in 1974 to make Austin their permanent home at the request of Willie Nelson who’s featured in one of the songs on their new album. They’ve won and been nominated for countless awards. If you’re into the Austin Music Scene, than I don’t need to go on- they’re definitely on your radar.
