Family Friendly, Free things to do in Austin, Random Fun, Things To Do In Austin | 12 Aug 2010

Oh, Dr. Suess! How I loved getting lost in your colorful illustrations and never-ending rhymes. “Green Eggs and Ham”– you got me every time.

I mean, who wouldn’t get lost in the imaginative adventures Dr. Suess created? Here is a little trivia for you: Did you know the mastermind started off doing illustrations and advertising? The whimsical stories actually came much later.

Whether you’re a kid or an adult, Art on 5th is giving you the chance to explore the magical world of Dr. Suess, again! This is one of the largest Secret of Dr. Suess exhibits in the country, and best of all, it’s FREE.

The exhibit takes you back to some of your favorite Dr. Suess books with paintings and sculptures, including some I describe as “taxidermy-ish” depicting various characters and moments. Aside from the classics, there are illustrations and pieces he created for his own pleasure that have never been seen by the public. For the most part, his work is very reminiscent of what you’d expect from his books!

All the works are always available for purchase.

Hours: Monday- Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Location:
Art on 5th
