234. 7th Annual Austin Italian Festival

Family Friendly, Festivals, Live Music, Museums, Outside, Things To Do In Austin | 22 Aug 2010

Didn’t get to make it overseas this summer? Well here is your opportunity for a little taste of Italy right here in Austin, Texas.

The Number one reason why my interest was perked — there will be a Ferrari, Lamborghini & Alfa Romeo Cars there, as well as Ducati Motorcycles. Is it just me or am I the only one who thinks there are never really car shows in Austin? Growing up in Houston, my dad and I were always venturing out to various car shows, I don’t come across them as much here.

This festival has much, much more to offer than admiring a few fine automobiles but that is truthfully what I think is the coolest part.

As with every great festival in Austin, they must have music. So here is the lineup for the day.

4:00- Shirley Johnson, the Accordionist
5:00- Juan Del Bosco, The Opera Lyric Singer
6:00- Roberto Riggio, the Violinist
7:00- Hershell Moody

Get excited, at 8:00 they will have a Mediterranean Belly Dancer.

If there are two things that the Italians know, it’s definitely cars and food. So naturally, there will plenty of Italian food, wine, gelato (a personal favorite of mine), Italian sodas, pizza, panini, and more.

They will also have arts, crafts, jewelry and tons more!

Kids activates include face painting, hair braiding, and balloon twisters.

This is the kind of thing that reminds me of “International Day” from elementary school, but this like the mack daddy of International Days.  Take the time to submerge yourself and enjoy an evening of Italian culture.
