247. The Tavern

The countdown is over and Texas Football is finally upon us! Unfortunately, the season opener is not a home game, so I must venture to one of my favorite places to watch the game — The Tavern.

On game days, The Tavern is a sea of burnt orange, beer, and burgers. Beer drinkers, they have a great selection of beer from all over the world. It’s the perfect atmosphere to get rowdy and watch some football. For those that haven’t been, it gets very crowed, but that is where the fun is if you ask me.

It’s two stories with both inside seating, and an outdoor patio upstairs. It’s definitely a roomy joint with a very pub like feel. They have 50 High Definition TV’s, so everywhere you turn you can watch the game. The Tavern has lots of history, as it’s been around since 1933. Aside from a little facelift and a few upgrades, it has stayed pretty much the same, and therein lies most of its charm.

It goes without saying, wear burnt orange and don’t forget to try the white wings.

Hook ‘em Horns!

They deserve props for parking, because for their location, they have a pretty good amount of spaces. I’ve never had too much trouble getting a spot.

One final thought, if want to make sure your experience is one full of good times, good beer and great service ask for AP behind the bar because she is awesome and will definitely take care of you.

I am a realtor here in Austin, and clients are always asking for suggestions on what to do around town. So, I thought I would blog about my experiences, recommendations and what you have to do before you can call yourself a true Austinite.
