257. Milto’s Mediterranean Café
Restaurants, Things To Do In Austin | 14 Sep 2010I didn’t realize when I moved to Austin that I would be exposed to so many great foods and get to experience culinary delights from all over the world. I had never even tried a gyro until I went to Milto’s.
I have to admit, the first time I stopped at Milto’s was one day in college because they accepted the famed “Bevo Bucks.” I ordered a pizza and it was absolutely delicious. So on my numerous returns to Milto’s, I usually opted for a flavorful, zesty, mouth-watering pizza. You can order whatever you want by the slice, so that makes it very convenient.
It wasn’t until I ventured back over that way with my food-loving friend that she insisted I tried a gyro. I had always heard about their famous gyros because the girl I babysat for in college would never stop talking about them. I have to say, it’s an absolute shame I didn’t try these sooner. I’ve tried gyros from other places in town, but I crave them from here. They are made to perfection. (On a side note — the souvlaki gyro is an amazing change of pace if want a gyro that’s a little heartier.)
I’m not too much of a salad lover, but they make a killer greek salad that I would recommend getting no matter what you order. It comes with a roll that’s so good you would think they shipped it in straight from Greece.
As far as Greek food in Austin goes, this little spot is definitely one of the best.
