260. Whole Foods Market – 30 Years Fresh

Family Friendly, Festivals, Free things to do in Austin, Live Music, Things To Do In Austin | 17 Sep 2010

It’s a birthday weekend for Whole Foods, and with every good birthday comes a good party. They’re getting the party started tonight with a rooftop screening of Dazed and Confused. A classic movie, filmed in Austin staring one of my favorite former Austinites, Matthew McConaughey. You can also join in on their 3-course dinner for $15.00. The movie will start around sunset.

They menu is:

Appetizer  —   “School’s Out For Summer” Salad with heirloom tomatoes, okra, and corn tossed in a lemon vinaigrette

Main Course  –  Meat Loaf Sandwich or Vegan Meat Loaf – both served with with whipped potatoes and drunken seasonal greens.

Dessert  –  Hemp Brownies with Herb Gelato!

Snacks, beer and wine will be available for purchase upstairs, or you can bring some of the delicious food from the store to eat at your table!

Planning ahead alert — tomorrow they will have free festivities and fun starting at noon. All day there will be live music, over 40 local food, beer, and wine vendors sampling their products, a cooking demonstration, games and much more.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. they’ll have a benefit concert supporting HAAM. HAAM (Health Alliance for Austin Musicians) was set up to help local musicians get health benefits. For the benefit concert there’s a suggested donation of $5 and a VIP tent with food and drinks for $20.

Between a free rooftop screening of Dazed and Confused under the clear starry night and a day full of fun on Saturday, I’d say Whole Foods is doing a pretty great job of turning 30.
