It is the 265^th day of the year, that means we only have 100 days until 2011. After free museum day the Harry Ransom Center got tons of great reviews from blog followers, so I thought now was the perfect time to make it its own list item.

The Harry Ransom Center is a place that houses and displays cultural artifacts on the University of Texas campus. They have various exhibits, and sometimes feature performances and educational lectures. Once stepping foot inside you’ll definitely get lost in the history, as the displays are extremely captivating and interesting.

They even have a Gutenberg Bible. It’s one of only 5 complete copies of the revolutionary book in the United States — the first major work ever produced by movable type.

I think that the Harry Ransom Center is an under-appreciated stop in Austin, but I think any Austinite or UT campus needs to go there at least once. It’s another cool thing that makes Austin so unique.

I would recommend signing up for their newsletter or fanning them on facebook because they are always having interesting events going on.
