268. Austin Vintage & Antique Boat Show

Family Friendly, Festivals, Live Music, Outside, Things To Do In Austin | 25 Sep 2010

I love car shows, and I love boat shows. They’re definitely two things I don’t think Austin, Texas has enough of.

So when I found out about this antique boat show, I couldn’t be more excited.

This reminds me of the Keels and Wheels Classic Car and Boat Show that I used to go to growing up. It always provided an opportunity to get lost in vintage sports cars and classic wooden boats, which all seem very Great Gatsby to me.

I don’t know how you can go wrong spending part of your Saturday hanging out by the lake and looking at antique boats. The craftsmanship of these boats is just awe inspiring to me, and takes you back to a simpler time before X-Star’s and Wakesetters.

Admission to the boat show is free, but you must pay to get into Emma Long Park. Bring CASH, as all vendors at the show will only take cash.

For a full schedule of events visit the website, but here’s a basic breakdown for the day:

8:00-10:00: Meet & Greet, Photographs of Boats, Silent Auction Starts
10:00-2:00: individual & Group boating of the Colorado River
1:15-2:30: Parade of Boats

Live Music from 11:30-2:00 by Steve Power.

Time: 7:00am-3:00pm
