283. Fall Plant Sale & Gardening Festival
Family Friendly, Festivals, Outside, Random Fun, Things To Do In Austin | 10 Oct 2010Happy 10-10-10! Also interesting October 2010 Fact: This October has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays & 5 Sundays, all in 1 month. It happens once in 823 years. I love October. I like to see the seasons change, and it’s also my birth month.
This is some great weather for freshening up your garden, or just heading out to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center to browse the over 300 species of native Texas plants. What better plants to have in your garden than native Texas ones?
You can also go on guided walks, tours and get gardening tips from local experts. As with all good Austin festivals, they also will have artists, authors and children’s activities.
Here are some tips to help make your day a little smoother: – If you plan on buying a bunch of flowers and plants, try to bring you own wagon to haul your purchases – For those seeking some book signings, Andy Rhodes of “Moon Handbooks: Texas,” and Jill Nokes of “Yard Art & Handmade Places” will be there 1:00-3:00pm.
It’s a great day to be outside and take in some beautiful Austin nature. The Wildflower Center is always a great stop, no matter what time of year.
