290. 15th Anniversary Texas Book Festival
Family Friendly, Festivals, Free things to do in Austin, Things To Do In Austin | 17 Oct 2010This is not your average elementary school book fair. This is the Super Bowl of book fairs.
My mom lives in Houston, and she’s been asking me to blog on this since June. So mom, here it is!

This annual event is chaired by former First Lady, Laura Bush. This event started in 1995 and since then they’ve been able to award over $2.5 million in grants to Texas’ public libraries. Past guests have included Bill Clinton and Amy Sedaris.
To view the long list of over 200 Authors that will be in attendance, click here: http://www.texasbookfestival.org/Authors.php.
The Texas Book Festival will also have plenty of fun for kids. Just stop by the children’s entertainment tent or the “Read Me a Story” tent for more information.
There’s honestly too many events, talks and book signings to mention all of them in one blog post. They’re doing a fantastic job of getting people excited about reading, as well as supporting our state’s libraries. This year the weekend is expected to bring in more than 40,000 visitors.
I know that it is a book festival, but they’ll also have some great local Austin food vendors including Amy’s Ice Cream, Dog Almighty, Rudy’s BBQ, Torchy’s Tacos and more.
