There is nothing like being away from Austin, Texas for a weekend and returning. While weekends away are always fun, I must say, it feels so, so good to be home.

This is the 9th Annual East Austin Studio Tour (E.A.S.T.), each year it is a highly anticipated event that brings together local artists, galleries and the community to showcase Austin’s creative side. One of my friends recently said that the East Side is the new downtown, with events like this I am tempted to believe her. Over 200 artists and 150 galleries and studios come together and participate.

With so many participants the art is just as diverse as the city – there is art for everyone including painting, photography, visual art, sculpture. There are so many studios that once you get started you can walk to several different venues, oh the convenience of East Side living.
