325. Austin Empty Bowl Project
Family Friendly, Live Music, Things To Do In Austin | 21 Nov 2010Way to go Texas! It feels great to win again!
With Thanksgiving revolving around being thankful, America and food, I thought the Austin Annual Empty Bowl Project would be perfect. The project benefits the Kids Café, a section of the Capital Area Food Bank. The Central Texas chapter serves more than 25,000 meals to more than 2,800 children in need every month.
Each year potters donate hand-painted bowls of all shapes and sizes to this project. Local restaurants and bakeries then donate soups and breads to fill the bowls. For $15 dollars you can pick out a bowl, plus its fillings. On top of great food they will have plenty of local musicians providing some live music. This is one of those events the combines so many good things about Austin!
I personally love hand painted pottery. Each piece is so unique and tells a story. Last year they raised over $71,000, so those are some big shoes to fill. Let’s get on it!
Happy Thanksgiving Week!
