I’m taking a break from the joys of the holiday season to blog on some good ol’ Austin cooking and a must-stop no matter what time of the year it is. I realize that my year of 365 things is winding down and this needs to get in there in year one, as it is a true Austin treasure.
There is tons of Austin history behind this place, but I won’t bore you with those details. The food/brunch is home cooking so good that some may give up their first-born for it. Everything is delicious, it just depends on what strikes your fancy. I’m in love with their chicken basket, but you can’t go wrong with their world famous chicken fried steak.
On top of great food, they also often have tons of live music. It’s a fantastic venue — good seating, cheap drink prices and awesome food.
I have absolutely zero reservations about saying this is definitely one of the absolute best brunches in town, hands down. Gospel music on a Sunday, what more can ask you for?
