338. Hyde Park Bar and Grill

Family Friendly, Restaurants, Things To Do In Austin | 4 Dec 2010

I have been getting some requests to blog on some great gluten-free places to eat. Hyde Park has tons of gluten-free and vegetarian options, on top of an already great menu that almost anyone can find something to appreciate and enjoy.

I was first introduced to Hyde Park in college — I always appreciate a good brunch — and Hyde Park serves brunch on both Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

When it comes to the food, you have to try their famous fries. They’re awesome! And what goes better with fries than some southern comfort  food? The mac and cheese is legendary!

Like I said, there’s something for everyone on the menu. If you’re really going for that out-of-the-park meal, the chicken fried steak will keep you coming back time and time again. Their homemade desserts are just as delicious. Their meals remind me of things my mom would cook for dinner growing up. I wish I could make decent comfort food, but it just doesn’t happen, so Hyde Park takes care of it for me.

Longtime Austinites might be familiar with the fork that has become a landmark at the Duval location. Now the fork is often decorated with different pieces of art depending on the time of year.  For more information and history on the Hyde Park Fork visit its facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/people/Hyde-Park-Fork/100000093867884. Speaking of the fork – it was manufactured by the same man who now provides them with bottled Rainwater.
