343. North By Northwest Restaurant & Brewery
Bars / Happy Hour, Family Friendly, Restaurants, Things To Do In Austin | 9 Dec 2010Since it’s Eat Local Week and all, I thought now would be the perfect time to blog on a local favorite. I must admit that for some reason my mind always thinks that this is a “chain,” and it’s not. That’s the only reason it hasn’t made the list sooner. This is also a great place that’s further “North,” as followers keep asking for ideas closer to that side of town! They also have gluten – free options, so they’re just getting thumbs up left and right.
I think this place is a home run. All the beers there are brewed right on site in the big silver “brewery tower.” I would recommend going at happy hour because they have fantastic specials. You can easily fill up on some appetizers because they give you plenty of food. I love the burger with the albino bun as well as the appetizer pizza, but let’s face it — you go there for the beer, and after a few beers anything will slide right down.
Don’t miss their Sunday brunch served on Saturdays and Sundays!
On weekends I would recommend calling ahead, as there can be a wait. The number is 512-467-6969. Their staff has always been very friendly and very helpful. While they have a great beer selection, it is a family friendly establishment, so feel free to bring the kiddos.
