361. West Austin Park
Family Friendly, Free things to do in Austin, Outside, Things To Do In Austin | 27 Dec 2010The last few days I’ve been busy blogging from faraway lands and trying to track down the internet so I can post a new blog every day. It’s been quite a challenge, but I’m doing the best I can. I miss Austin! While I’m away my friend is watching my dog and I miss him terribly, so I thought in honor of him I would blog on a place we both love — West Austin Park.
The great thing about this park is that it’s somewhat off the general radar, so it’s never too packed. I love that the entire leash-free area is fenced off. Sometimes when I’m at other places I turn my head for one second and next thing I know my dog is coming back to me after a dip in the water, rolling around in mud or finding some other adventure when I’m not looking. Here it’s very easy to keep your eye on your little buddy, which is a major plus.
Don’t miss the wading pool in the summer, and the park has playgrounds and tennis courts as well. The tennis courts are great because I have the hardest time finding public places to play tennis in this city!
Let’s finish the year strong Austin, we only have a few more days until 2011!
