12.11 Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park

Walnut Creek is a phenomenal park, and free fun outdoors always makes for a great Austin afternoon.

Walnut Creek’s mountain bike trails absolutely dominate all the other mountain biking trails in Austin. They have fire roads, single tracks, and everything that true mountain bike lovers will appreciate. Go there on a Tuesday evening. After the locals ride it becomes one large park party. They have burgers grilling, beer drinking and it becomes a cool, low-key social hour.

The off-leash fun for dogs is unmatched. All the trails are off-leash, and they’re great if you’re looking to take your dog for a hike. They have streams, an unlimited amount of sticks, basically everything your dog will enjoy. It’s the perfect place to tucker them out for the day.

On a side note, I’m constantly amazed at the kindness of strangers. Yesterday I had a blow out on the side of 360 and a stranger pulled over and helped me with my tire. Acts of kindness like this constantly restore my faith in mankind.

I am a realtor here in Austin, and clients are always asking for suggestions on what to do around town. So, I thought I would blog about my experiences, recommendations and what you have to do before you can call yourself a true Austinite.
