82.11 Texas Tunes into Africa

Family Friendly, Live Music, Things To Do In Austin | 23 Mar 2011
They had me at Nutty Brown Amphitheater and a good cause. Throw in some “Friday Night Lights” stars and Guy Forsyth, and I’m downright sold. I love that Austin has tons of fun, charitable events like this.
Nutty Brown Café is a blog in itself, but that will be for another day. It’s one of the best music venues in the area.
The Nutty Brown Amphitheatre is hosting a benefit concert tonight for the African Children’s Choir and EMPACT Africa. The African Children’s Choir is known for their amazing and unique performances! This choir is based out of Uganda, and features children ages 8 -11. Many of them have lost family members growing up in a country where violence and disease are rampant, and the choir gives them a chance to receive a quality education. It’s a night that is sure to warm your heart and provide some unforgettable performances from not only the choir, but also fantastic Texas acts like Guy Forsyth and Sara Hickman and Family Time Rocks.
The event will be hosted by Emmy-nominated actress Connie Britton, Kyle Chandler and Taylor Kitsch of NBC’s “Friday Night Lights.”
Admission is $25, and kids 12 and under get in free.

Tonight: 6:30-10:00pm

Location:
Nutty Brown Café Amphitheatre
12225 West Hightway 290
Austin, Texas 78737
