94.11 Bikini’s Sports Bar & Grill

Sporting Events, Things To Do In Austin | 4 Apr 2011

Today will officially mark the end of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. I played in my first ever March Madness bracket challenge this year and got third. I thought it was a pretty good showing. I had Texas playing in the finals, so after the Arizona loss I was pretty much done. The big game is tonight, and I don’t really care who wins, but I figure it’s always fun to watch big games at a sports bar.

Naturally, the name pretty much sums up what’s going on here. This bar was founded here in Austin, has other locations in Central Texas, and features girls in bikinis serving drinks to sports fans. It’s a pretty simple concept, and I’d say they hit a home run.

Bikini’s is one of my favorite places to watch sports. We watched a bunch of the tournament games at their downtown location this year during SXSW, so I thought I would come full circle and watch the national championship game there as well. The service is some of the best in town. Despite the combination of St. Patrick’s Day and SXSW, they were fast and friendly! There is plenty of  seating and TVs, and they have fantastic bar food. I can’t go there without ordering the chili cheese fries, and their little buffalo chicken sliders are awesome.

It’s also in the middle of downtown, so after a good game you can either stay there or move on to the next place to keep celebrating the big win!
