104.11 Old Settlers Music Festival 2011

The weather is perfect, which means festival season is upon us! It’s time for everyone to get out and enjoy some outdoor live music, and this festival should be a great place to do it. This is a unique event that primarily focuses on Americana music, but they’ll have a little bit of everything, including acoustic jazz, blues and bluegrass.

The cool thing about the festival is that it’s out in Driftwood at the Salt Lick. It’s a short trip out there, and if the bluebonnets are in bloom, it’s a beautiful drive. And while it hasn’t been an official list item, (its day will come) the Salt Lick is pure BBQ awesomeness.

The other great thing is that the festival is super family friendly. They’ll have plenty of kids activities, including face painting, a petting zoo, pony rides, a monster slide, a rock climbing wall and more.

Also, diehard festival fans can go out and camp for the weekend. I enjoy a lot of things, but camping is not for me. More power to them. Campers can enjoy yoga on Friday and Saturday morning.

I am a realtor here in Austin, and clients are always asking for suggestions on what to do around town. So, I thought I would blog about my experiences, recommendations and what you have to do before you can call yourself a true Austinite.
