186.11 “Texas First, Texas Best” at Texas Music Museum
Family Friendly, Free things to do in Austin, Live Music, Museums, Things To Do In Austin | 6 Jul 2011The Texas Music Museum is a great, free way to cool down during this brutal summer. They currently have an exhibit, “Texas First, Texas Best,” which features groundbreaking musicians on the Texas music scene.
I figure plenty of Austinites would find this interesting, as we are the Live Music Capital of the World. It’s a great cause, as they try to encourage people to actively participate in the “enjoyment, appreciation, and ongoing preservation of the state’s musical heritage.” You can enjoy self-guided tours on the weekdays.
Also, every Sunday in July from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. they’re putting on their first annual “Texas Music Festival.” For a full schedule visit the website.
