206.11 G’Raj Mahal

Things To Do In Austin, Trailer Eatery | 26 Jul 2011

I finally got around to trying G’Raj Mahal last week and decided to blog on it. Yesterday I saw this write up on the Rainey Street district in the New York Times, so I thought it was just perfect timing!

I have a short list of things that I’m skeptical of when it’s served from a trailer, and Indian food is definitely on there. But I was across the street at Clive Bar, and I caught a whiff of something that smelled amazing. It was G’Raj Majal, and it was fantastic!

I went and picked up food to bring back to Clive Bar, but got a good feel of the atmosphere at the trailer. Wow, it’s cute! It was packed, and I think it would be a great place for a BYOB date.

It’s one of those spots that you can’t fully appreciate until you experience it for yourself.

That’s it?  I was excited to see this post b/c I keep hearing G’Raj Mahal mentioned, but I Iearned absolutely nothing that I didn’t already know– it’s a trailer with Indian food!  A little more info about the place (and your review) would be helpful.

What more can I help you with. I am not big on Indian Food so I didn’t want to get into to much details as I don’t feel I am an expert. They have countless items on their menu and many options for those that are not meat eaters.
Weekends it gets crowded, it is definitely a happening place to be. The thing that I think causes it to get so much buzz is not the food just the atmosphere. It is really well done with plenty of seating. The entire ambiance is very welcoming.

The staff was very helpful to me and I called in two to-go orders and go them very fast. I have heard that when you are there it can take a while to get your food.

Let me know any questions you might have, I’d be happy to tell you more about my experience! I would definitely recommend checking it out, it lives up to all the hype!

@b30bd9f101f2682619d1a771d7e090af:disqus I agree, more information would have been helpful. I’m always excited to see new Indian places open in Austin, but was pretty disappointed by my visit to Graj Mahal – the food was pretty bland, service was slow, and it was overpriced.  If you are in the area, I’d recommend checking out Naan Stop on 7th & Red River instead.
