294.11 16th Annual Texas Book Festival

Family Friendly, Festivals, Free things to do in Austin, Outside, Things To Do In Austin | 23 Oct 2011

It’s Texas Book Festival time again! I think this is an absolutely fantastic event, and this year there are a record number of authors participating, with a 250 set to take part in this weekend’s festival.

This annual book-a-palooza was the brain child of former First Lady, Laura Bush. I think the coolest thing about the festival is that it gets people excited about reading and raises tons of cash for Texas libraries. Since it started, they’ve been able to award over $2.5 million in grant money to state libraries. That is downright inspiring!

The festival will have everything from book signings, panel discussions, author readings and more.

Admission: Free

When: today

Location:
The Capitol
Congress, between 10 & 11th
Austin, Texas 78701

I really wish they would sell used books, not just new books.

You should post times of events, too… if it’s all day long, please mention that. Thanks, and keep up the good work! Love this blog! :)
