The Oh Snap! Benefit Festival is very special to me. My friends organized this in memory of their friend who passed away after being killed by a drunk driver. The festival has grown tremendously over the years, and all the money raised goes to The Sergio Machado Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship helps international students attend college, as Serigo was from Mozambique. The name “Oh Snap!” came from one of Sergio’s catch phrases. I’m very proud of my friends for organizing this. It does a great job of honoring his life each year for a fantastic cause, and it’s always a great time.

This year they have the weekend packed with 50 different bands including UME, T Bird and the Breaks, Patrice Pike, Mother Falcon and the Freshmillions. There’s also a ton of great sponsors. There will be loads of Sailor Jerry’s and Dos XX, giveaways and swag. All the early birds that get there before 6 p.m. on Friday or Saturday will get a free 16 oz Dos XX or Tecate. Also, they will be having drink specials all weekend. Drink specials include $3 16 oz Tecate, $4 16 oz Dos XX and $4 Sailor!

Tonight they’re hosting a pre-party to get things started at 7 p.m. Get ready for a weekend of live music and fun for a great, great cause.
