80.12 Art on the Green

Family Friendly, Outside, Random Fun, Things To Do In Austin | 21 Mar 2012

Art on the Green is a really cool mini golf course set up on the lawns of the Austin Museum of Art. Austin artists, architects and landscape architects have designed 10 interactive mini golf holes as a different way for you to experience art. There are currently nine holes at Laguna Gloria, and on March 22, a bonus tenth hole will be in the downtown lobby of the Jones Center.

The holes are all over the grounds at Laguna Gloria, so it’s an absolutely beautiful setting to play a round of mini golf. The holes range from smart and funny to a little sophisticated.

The course appeals to all ages and is really worth checking out on one of these beautiful spring days!

Also, don’t forget to check out the peacocks next door at Mayfield Park.

DISTASTEFUL! How is this considered art. Laguna Gloria usually represents beauty and class beyond the ordinary. Chickens and rats that excrement balls is insulting. Do they not host weddings and ceremonies at Laguna Gloria? I would be interested in knowing how this is being received by renters. It boasts about its “Italianate style” and its “splendor”. I do not think there is anything spledid about a mini golf course with giant orange chickens and orange streamers. “Inspiring architecture and landscaped grounds” have been tainted with this ridiculous so-called exhibit.

Just found out about this and I can’t wait to visit.  Sounds like a great way to spend a beautiful Austin Spring day.
