120.12 Give Back with Blue Dog Rescue

Dog Friendly, Free things to do in Austin, Things To Do In Austin | 30 Apr 2012

Today is my sister’s birthday and National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day, so I wanted to blog on something important to her! She’s always been big into volunteer work and helping animals, and recently she rescued a dog. I thought encouraging others to do the same would be a nice birthday present.

Blue Dog Rescue is a local group in Austin that does tons for animals in need, and they’re always looking for help. You can volunteer, foster an animal, or even celebrate your birthday with them! For more on how you can help out, visit this link: http://www.bluedogrescue.com/help/help.htm.

Personally, I’ve found that an easy way to give back to local animal shelters is by donating gently used toys or extra doggie treats. When I’m at the store I just buy two bags of Brady’s favorite treats, and before I know it, I have a small pile of things to take to the local shelter or rescue group. No donation is too small!

Lastly, happy birthday to my younger sister! You’re amazing!
