211.12 Lady Bird Johnson Centennial Celebration

Free things to do in Austin, Things To Do In Austin | 29 Jul 2012

The Wildflower Center is honoring their founder, Lady Bird Johnson, today on what would have been her 100th birthday.

There will be activities throughout the day that the entire family will enjoy. They are going to unveil a new exhibit about her conservation focus that will travel nationally. They’re also going to have a special one-day showing of historical pens that Mrs. Johnson received from President LBJ that he used to sign conservation legislation inspired by her efforts.

They will also be story telling,  a children’s play by ZACH Theatre, door prizes, and my favorite, a giant origami exhibit.

Visiting the Wildflower Center is a treat any time. The grounds are beautiful and fun to explore.
