238.12 Bat Fest/Night of the Bat

Today is one of the biggest events of the year for Austin bat watchers as it is the Bat Fest/ Night of the Bat.  Living in Austin, hearing about the bats is something that you are probably familiar with but how often do you take the time to go do it? Take today’s event as an excuse to go down there and appreciate it!

The Congress Bridge will be turned in to a complete bat festival. They will have 2 stages with live music, more than 75 arts & craft vendors, tons of food and drink stands, children’s activities, a bat costume contest and more!

Those bats are funny as you never know exactly what time they are going to decide to fly, it can be anywhere from 7:00-8:30ish. Once they start emerging from under the bridge it can last up to 30 minutes. Needless to say, don’t forget to grab your camera!
