267.12 Austin Museum Day

Family Friendly, Free things to do in Austin, Things To Do In Austin | 23 Sep 2012

Austin is full of museums.  When you live here, they may be one of the things that you take for granted about our city. Today is the day to go explore all the museums you have been meaning to go to, since it’s Austin Museum Day.

Participating museums have special activities and exhibits set up. To see the list of special events at the museums click here, http://www.austinmuseums.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/AMD2012PressRelease.doc-.pdf.

There are far too many museums to visit in one day so check out the whole list to plan your day.  My advice is to check out the museums that usually charge an admission fee.

Here are a few of my favorite participating museums, Austin Children’s Museum, Bob Bullock Museum, Harry Ransom Center, Texas State Capitol, Texas Military Forces Museum, Umlauf Sculpture Garden, Save Austin’s Cemeteries, and Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. There are tons of fun museums participating, so visit what perks your interest.

Admission: free

When: today, September 23

See participating museums on website.
