In the last two weeks I have been on not one but two Tower Tours. I am probably a little biased as a former Longhorn but seriously it is an incredible experience.
Two weeks ago I went on the 7:00 p.m. tour and loved it, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, but trust me, that phrase does not do it justice. It’s so peaceful and relaxing at the top, not to mention the most incredible 360 view of our favorite city. Tours are self-guided, but once at the top, there are student-workers that can give you a quick 101 on the tower… spoiler alert, the Texas Tower IS taller than the Capitol. The students insisted that I come back for the sunset (8:00 p.m.) tour, so last week, I did just that.
The 8:00 p.m. tour was spectacular because you’re able to see the sunset to the West and the lights coming up over downtown to the South. It was pretty crazy to watch the sunset from ABOVE the city. Honestly, I couldn’t pick a favorite tour as I loved them both for different reasons. Either way, I would recommend doing this even if you’re not a UT grad. This would be a great thing to do with family, out of town visitors, or even if you’re just looking for a cheap date!
Special shoutout to Jeanan and Jeff, they were the tour guides on my first tour and were beyond awesome! If you happen to run into either of them on your tour, please tell them I said hi!
You MUST make a reservation, but each time I have done it I was able to call on the day of the tour.
As always, Hook ‘Em Horns!
