Pet of the Week: Elmer

Name: Elmer
Animal ID: A700624
Age: 5 year old
Breed:
Domestic Short hair
Sex: Neutered Male
Location: In Foster

May 16th 2015 a call came into Austin Animal Protection about a cat found in a pool that had been shot in the back. We picked him up and brought him to the emergency clinic for overnight care.

He was  then brought back to Austin Animal Center to try and find the owner and for treatment. Animal Protection posted “found” fliers in the neighborhood and nobody came forward to claim the cat. Austin Animal Center performed surgery to remove lead fragments from his spine. He recovered from surgery and started physical therapy but has lost control of his back end.

Elmer now gets around using his cart! Elmer loves to be scratched and pet. He also loves to be outside, he still has a hunters instinct and will chase little birds and squirrels. He gets along with other dogs and cats and still tries to climb trees!
