There are a gazillion Halloween events happening in Austin this weekend leading up to the big day, so we thought we’d give you a handy listing of the events in one place! From spooky storytimes to family-friendly trick-or-treating, costume contests and haunted houses, there’s something for everyone.

Halloween Costume Day at Catch Air

When: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. (contest at 6 p.m.)
Where: Catch Air, 13450 US 183, Austin
Cost: Regular admission

Parents and children are encouraged to wear their costumes all day long. There will be a special costume contest at 6 pm.

Halloween Carnival

When: 3:30-6 p.m.
Where: Oswaldo A.B. Cantu Pan-American Recreation Center, 2100 E. 3rd Street
Cost: FREE

Fun, games, Candy, prizes, & more at this all ages free event. Don’t miss out on the Halloween costume contest at 5 p.m.

Boo at the Zoo

When: 6:30-9 p.m.
Where: Austin Zoo, 10808 Rawhide Trail, Austin
Cost: $15

Boo at the Zoo is a fun-filled evening for ghosts and goblins of any age. Come dressed in your Halloween finest (no adult masks, please) and enjoy this Zoo-wide event including the Zoo bedecked in Halloween spookiness, nocturnal animals, unlimited trips through the Haunted Mansion and an eerie train ride.

Haunted Halloween Trails

When: 7-10 p.m.
Where: Pioneer Farms, 10621 Pioneer Farms Drive, Austin
Cost: $12 per person

Creepy scarecrows, ghost stories and all things scary will be featured at this annual all-ages Haunted Halloween Trails festival. This year’s event will feature three separate spooky trails each night — one for young children (amusing, rated G), another for those who want spooky surprises (rated PG) and a scary, scary trail for the adventurous (frights galore, rated PG-13). Spook lights, ghoulish stories, pumpkins, food, drinks and souvenirs promise to add to the fun. Palm readers (available for an extra fee) will be on site all nights to give visitors a peek into their past or future, along with other fun activities.

Halls of Horror Haunted House

When: 7-11 p.m.
Where: Green Red Barn, 901 Old Austin Hutto Road, Pflugerville
Cost: FREE with two canned goods

The Halls of Horror Haunted House is sure to cause a fright. Not recommended for younger children.

Halloween Fun

When: 6-8 p.m.
Where: Dottie Jordan Recreation Center, 2803 Loyola Lane
Cost: FREE!

Come & join us for a spooktacular time with carnival games, snacks, music, a cake walk and much, much more!

Spooktacular

When: 5-8 p.m.
Where: Bullock Museum, 1800 Congress Avenue
Cost: FREE

Skeletons of all shapes and sizes will find fun creating glow in the dark art, experimenting with bony science, and moving their bones to the spooky beats. Plus, explore the Museum’s exhibitions after hours while sporting your latest Halloween costume creation.

The Thinkery’s Family Night: Halloween Hootenanny

When: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Where: The Thinkery, 1830 Simond Avenue
Cost: $13 Member Adult/$15 General Public Adult, $11 Member Child/$13 General Public Child; Free: Children under 2 years

Celebrate Halloween, Thinkery-style. Dress in your Halloween best and make your own spooky sounds, become a gross-ologist and face your fear of freaky foods. Activities for kids and adults make this fall celebration spellbindingly fun for all. Complete all activity stations and receive a prize! And as a bonus, Hat Creek Burger Co. will be there giving out free burgers!

Nightmare Before Christmas

When: 8 p.m.
Where: Long Center for Performing Arts, 701 W. Riverside Drive, Austin
Cost: Tickets starting at $33

One of Tim Burton’s most celebrated films, The Nightmare Before Christmas will be projected on the big screen with dialog and effects accompanied by Danny Elfman’s enigmatic score played live by your Austin Symphony Orchestra!

PBS Kids at the Alamo: Halloween Special

When: 10 a.m.
Where: Alamo Drafthouse Lakeline, 14028 N. Hwy. 183, Austin
Cost: $1-3 donation

Nothing says ‘Halloween’ like costumes, pumpkins and spooky stories – and this October, PBS KIDS is celebrating Halloween with friends from some of our favorite series including NATURE CAT, ODD SQUAD, PEG + CAT, and WILD KRATTS.  Families are invited to come in costume.  It’s the perfect way to celebrate Halloween with all the treats and none of the scary tricks. All ages.

Halloween Fairy Garden Party

When: 11 a.m.
Where: Hill Country Water Gardens & Nursery, 1407 N. Bell Blvd., Cedar Park
Cost: FREE

No Tricks, Just Treats, Eats & Sweets at the Halloween Fairy Garden Party! We’ll have a trick-or-treat parade and a fairy garden demonstration. Costumes are encouraged but not mandatory.

Fable Fest

When: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Milburn Park, 1901 Sun Chase Blvd., Cedar Park
Cost: FREE Admission, food and drink and some activities cost extra

Bring the family out to enjoy The Kings Carnival where kids of all ages can play games, arts and crafts, enjoy inflatables, a petting zoo and pony rides (requires tickets purchased at event); The Cobblestone Market provides the opportunity to shop with a variety of Arts and Craft vendors and other area merchants; The Pig’s Pub will provide an opportunity to eat your fill on foods of all kinds; and The Royal Academy which is home to live Jousting and Blacksmith demonstrations.

Monsters get a pretty bad rap. After all, they are hideous and scary and love squeezing their big hairy monster bodies into the tiny crawl spaces beneath our beds. But aren’t they also awfully fun to read stories about? Come down this morning to find out more as we read Crankenstein and other monsteriffic tales.

Halloween Concert

When: Noon-5 p.m.
Where: Springfree Trampoline, 3220 Amy Donovan Plaza, Austin
Cost: FREE

Bounce on by to our Austin Halloween Concert Series on the Domain. Enjoy free arts and crafts, and dance along to many great songs by the one and only SUPERBAND! Prizes for best costume.

Halloween Carnival and Haunted House

When: 1-4 p.m.
Where: Delores Duffie Recreation Center, 1182 N. Pleasant Valley Road
Cost: FREE

Come dressed in costume for a Costume Contest, broken down by age groups (1-4, 5-7, 8-10, 11-12 year olds). Costume Contest registration by 2:00 p.m., judging at 3:30 p.m. with one winner per age group.

Halloween at the Y

When: 2-9 p.m.
Where: Dell Diamond, 3400 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock
Cost: $8 per person, free parking

Take your Halloween celebration beyond ordinary at the Annual YMCA of Greater Williamson County. Featuring everything from carnival games to inflatables and rides to climbing walls, FREE Halloween candy, music, prizes, concessions and more, as well as a pet costume and age-specific costume contests.

Creative Action’s Kids’ Ball

When: 5-8:30 p.m.
Where: Central Market North, 4001 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin
Cost: FREE

Creative Action will be providing a variety of interactive craft and costume creation stations from 5-7 pm and the White Ghost Shivers play a spooky set of music from 6-8:30 pm.

Halloween Spooktacular

When: 6-8 p.m. (activities), 7:30 p.m. (movie)
Where: Dittmar Recreation Center, 1009 W. Dittmar Road
Cost: FREE

Families are invited to take part in the Halloween Carnival and Haunted House from 6-8 p.m. and then stay for the Movie in the Park at 7:30 pm.

Austin Civic Orchestra’s Halloween Concert

When: 6-8 p.m.
Where: Performing Arts Center at Lake Travis High School, 3324 RR 620 S., Austin
Cost: $15 adults, $10 students, military and seniors

Come in costume to the Halloween Concert! Bring the kiddos out at 5pm for a special pre-concert instrument petting zoo, where they can get up close to some of the instruments that will be used that evening. Then the concert starts with music that includes creepy and spooky favorites such as Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain and music from the Harry Potter films. Guest pianist Michelle Schumann will perform Franz Liszt’s Totentanz (Dance of the Dead). The orchestra will appear in fun and festive costumes; we invite you to join us! As a special treat, children under the age of 12 will receive some Halloween swag.

ROSITA Y CONCHITA: a Día de los Muertos Play in English and Spanish

When: 11 a.m.

Two sisters try to reunite on the Day of the Dead. Along the way Rosita keeps getting lost, but she miraculously finds her way to Conchita through familiar sounds, sights and smells. Kids of all ages will love the rhyming bilingual dialogue and touching images.

The Great Pumpkin Festival

When: Noon
Where: Dell Diamond, 3400 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock
Cost: FREE

Enjoy live music from Lost & Nameless, food trucks, trunk r treat, carnival games, inflatable bounce houses, a silent auction and much more!
When: Noon – 8 p.m.
Where: Cuvee Coffee Bar, 2000 E. 6th Street, Austin
Cost: FREE
Come celebrate your love for local craft beer at a parking lot Halloween party. Activities include guided tasting of local beers (cost is $9), dog and human costume contests, live music and parking lots games.

Fall Fun Festival in Round Rock

Calling all of our little preschool monsters to jump in and join in on the fun at this Monster Mash themed festival. There will be lots of monstrous activities for little ghouls and goblins.  Lots of Frankenstein Fun including Carnival games, Hayrides, Cookies and Punch, Storytime and much more! This event is free however we encourage you to bring a canned food donation for the Round Rock Serving Center.

Halloween Trick or Treat for Books Storytime

When: 10:30 a.m.
Where: BookPeople, 603 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin
Cost: FREE

Gather at BookPeople this Halloween for a storytime filled with our favorite type of treats – new books!  Storytime will be in our amphitheater starting at 10:30AM, featuring stories full of monsters, ghosts, and witches (but none of them will be too scary).  Then, after storytime, join the costume parade around the store, which will start on the second floor and end at the front of the store where you’ll get your treat – a free book to bring home! This Halloween Party is perfect for witches and wizards ages 7 and under. Can’t make the storytime and parade? They will be handing out books to trick-or-treaters all day! Kids can stop by anytime on October 31st for a special Halloween treat! (While supplies last.)

Halloween in the Hall (Cedar Park)

Halloween Hometown

When: 3-6 p.m.
Where: Downtown Round Rock

Hometown Halloween is a great way to connect with your community, have fun with your family and create spooktacular memories in an environment where the treats are sweet and the activities are far from tricky. What can you expect? A treat trail down Main Street, face painters, balloon artists, kid-friendly live music, photo booths, a story walk, adoptable puppies and kittens, bounce houses, a hometown hay-ride and so, so much more!

Halloween Carnival
