Austin hasn’t always been the festival mecca it is today, but Art Alliance Austin has been bringing us an amazing cultural experience for decades now.
The giant, two-day fair known as Art City Austin is where artists from all around the city and beyond come to showcase their work—and this is its 69th year of existence! The event has a fascinating history and has been closely tied to the Austin’s cultural evolution.
Always a major draw for big-name artists, the 2019 lineup includes international photographer Greg Davis, roadside landscape artist Rachel Dory, and Israeli painter Yoram Gal.
Guests can enjoy thought-provoking artist talks and panels, live culinary demonstrations by local chefs and experts, local musicians, performance artists, custom art installations, food trucks, drinks, and interactive fun. You can also shop and browse at the art market featuring the work of 75 visual artists, designers, installation artists, artisans, and makers. And even better—festival guests have special access to guided and self-guided art tours around town during the weekend! It’s a family friendly event that just gets better with age.

And if you want to go all out, which we highly recommend, there are two ways enhance your fest:
If you can’t wait for Saturday, go to the preview party on Friday, April 12 from 6–9 p.m. at Republic Square. Guests will be “United in Color” and get a first look at the festival with the chance to shop before the crowds. Live entertainment, sensory experiences, craft cocktails, and great food will add to the ambiance. Preview Party tickets include complimentary entry into the weekend festival.
And if you want in on even more of the fun, you can go VIP, which gets you access to a private lounge with light local bites, complimentary drinks, a private bar, private bathrooms, and cozy seating.
