E-Scooters Not Allowed On Austin’s Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail

E-Scooters have fundamentally changed the way Austinites and visitors get around the city. They are great for buzzing around town, but the city is now looking at where they should be excluded in order to protect Austin’s pedestrians and our beautiful outdoor treasures.

The Trail Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Austin dedicated to protecting, enhancing, and connecting the Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake, is spreading the word that e-scooters are not allowed on the trail.

As part of their nine-month pilot program, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department excluded scooter use on the beloved 10-mile loop around the lake. The department is also seeking feedback from locals! Click here to take their survey and make your voice heard.

During this temporary period, scooters are allowed for transportation purposes (and to avoid being on trail) at the following bridges: Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge, South 1st Bridge, and the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge.

Now you can help get the word out and protect our wonderful trail system by buying a T-shirt to help drive awareness! All proceeds from the shirts go directly to The Trail Foundation!
