This spirited holiday tradition benefits Austin Police Department’s Operation Blue Santa. Serving over 5000 families in the Austin area, the annual collection of toys at the parade allows children to give to other children who are in need, all while having family fun!
The 2019 parade will feature a spectacular lineup that includes: giant inflatable balloon floats like Olivia the Pig and the Coca-Cola Polar Bear; popular children’s characters and superheroes; marching bands; classic cars; live music from Saul Paul, Janie Balderas & Los Texas Wranglers; a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus and more. In the spirit and tradition of the parade, Chuy’s invites all attendees to share in the joy of giving by bringing new, unwrapped toys to donate during the procession.
The parade lasts for about an hour. At a designated time, the parade participants will stop and collect unwrapped toys from the crowd. Parking is available in public lots and garages near the parade route for varying prices. Tip: plan to arrive at least an hour early to get parking and a good spot along the parade route.
For Austin-area residents who cannot make it to the parade yet want to spread joy to kids in need, toy donations can be made at Chuy’s Barton Springs, North Lamar, 183 & Duval, Round Rock, Arbor Trails, Cedar Park, and Shady Grove from November 1 through December 13.
