Before you put on your eating pants, lace up your sneakers and hit one of the many Thanksgiving Day fun runs! Whether you choose to run (or walk) 1, 2, 3 or 5 miles, there’s a race for you and your family.

29th Annual ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot

Long Center, 701 W. Riverside Dr.

$12-37 through Nov. 27; $13-43 on race day

This 5-mile run has become one of Austin’s most beloved Thanksgiving traditions. WIth more than 200,000 participants, it’s also one of Austin’s largest traditions! The Kids-K starts at 8:45, followed by the timed 5 mile race at 9:30. Untimed 5 miler is at 9:35 and the 1 mile run/walk is at 9:45. Registration is open through race day. All proceeds go to benefit Caritas of Austin, a community organization that works to end homelessness.

Participants can stop by the Wild Turkey booth to toast friends and family after the race for a chance to win their very own Wild Turkey 101 Old Fashioned Barpack which features a standing bar to mix on, Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon, Angostura Bitters, Powell & Mahoney Simple Syrup, glassware, stirrer, and more.

3rd Annual Fleet Feet Round Rock Turkey Trot

Old Settlers Park, 3400 E Palm Valley Blvd., Round Rock

$15; Free for children 10 and under

Toss the turkey in the oven and head to Round Rock to run the beautiful roads and trails of Old Settlers Park. Choose the untimed 5 mile or the 2-mile run/walk course. Afterward, enjoy sponsor booths, refreshments, and your finisher medal. Bring canned goods for the Round Rock Serving Center or new, unwrapped toys for Blue Santa. Proceeds from the event will be shared between The Round Rock Serving Center, Operation Blue Santa, The Backpack Coalition, and Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department! Race is capped at 2,500 participants. Registration ends Nov. 27 at 11:59 p.m.

Cedar Park Turkey Day 5K

The Turkey Day 5K offers a range of distances for all ages and abilities — there’s a 5K (3.1 miles), “Shake a Leg” mile, and Kids mile. Stick around after to enjoy the post-race festivities and swag. Registration ends Nov. 26 at 11:59 p.m.

6th Annual Drippin’ with Thanks 5K and Family Fun Run

Cool Springs Way, Highpointe Amenity Center


Organized and run by Dripping Springs students, this race gives back to the community in a big way. All proceeds will be donated to local families in need via Helping Hands of Dripping Springs. $1 equals 1 pound of food, so any contribution helps feed the community. Registration closes at 5 a.m. Thanksgiving Day.
