Coffee shops in Austin, Texas provide Austinites with the best in coffee. You're sure to find great coffee at any turn in Austin!

Admittedly, I’m not a big coffee drinker but I always find myself looking for a place to work.

This has quickly become one of my go-to spots. It’s a renovated little house right on South First a few blocks from downtown. I always find myself coming back to this place because there is a parking lot and street parking, these days that is becoming more and more rare in Austin. They have indoor and outdoor seating, which I also enjoy.

The inside of the house has been converted and now has a sleek modern design. The perfect place to go get some work done or schedule a meeting.

Today marks another sad day for a favorite Austin venue as they are closing their doors. Luckily, they have plans to open a new location by the end of the year but for now this is it. Tonight will feature a variety of music in a unique show.

Technically they are having another “Final Show” tomorrow night as well, but I figured I should get the word out early incase you want to make one final trip before the doors close. For information on tomorrow’s show visit,

The new location will have a full kitchen that will feature Mayan inspired dishes, vegetarian options, and gluten-free options.

Once the new location opens they will continue yoga, tai chi, kids shows, salsa, open mic night and many of the other traditions that many of us have come to love. Until then, come out one last time to enjoy the magic at the original location.

Admission: $7

When: August 30th

Time: 9:00 p.m.

Mozart’s is one of the best coffee shops in Austin, mostly because they have a phenomenal location on Lake Austin and a great outdoor deck. It’s one of the best places in town to see some spectacular holiday lights.

Each year they take Christmas lights to the extreme with an extravagant display. They have a light show at the top of each hour starting at 6 p.m. One of the songs is Wizards in Winter by the Trans Siberian Orchestra. I love it!

This cold weather will make Mozart’s coffee and hot chocolate taste even better. This is a fun stop for the entire family, including the dog.

Bring your camera. They’re having a photo contest where you can win an iPad and a $500 gift card to Mozart’s for first prize.

Time: Top of every hour, starting at 6 p.m.

When: now – New Years

With Thanksgiving this week I figured we should all save a little room for Thursday, so I thought I would try to blog on something a little lighter — a mobile coffee house.

I know how Austinites are with their coffee. Everyone has their favorite local spot for one reason or another. I like to get out and sample a few. And last week when we were having some chilly weather, I thought it would be the perfect time to check out this mobile coffee house. They’re actually the mobile version of Star Co. Coffee House in Round Rock, which is a popular coffee stop.

They have a great menu that has a mix of hot and cold drinks, plus fruit “freeze’s,” which are like a smoothie. I had the Mocha Freeze, and it was fabulous.

I’ve learned that Austinites are pretty passionate about their coffee. Whenever I blog on coffee shops, everyone has an opinion. I’m not really loyal to any place in particular. I just like to try new places around town, and I think I found another good one.
I love the smell inside at Fair Bean. They roast their own coffee beans in-house every day, and the smell really fills the room. I also love how some of their coffees have a nice little twist that makes me want to come back for more. For instance, the mochas have melted chocolate chips in them, which I really like. Also, the iced coffee is purely fantastic.
This is definitely a morning place, as they close pretty early (normally at 7 p.m., or at 8 p.m. Thursday – Saturday.) It’s a nice little space with plenty of seating and outlets for your computer.

Mondays and coffee seem to go hand in hand, and Epoch is another one of those great coffee shops in Austin with tons of local flavor.
This is another place I discovered during my days as a college student. It has a very relaxed and cozy atmosphere with plenty of tables, chairs and couches for you to set up your work station. If it’s a nice day, I like to sit outside. They also have board games here, which is a nice touch, and a great food selection. My favorite is the East Side Pies pizza they serve by the slice.

There are so many coffee shops around town, and each one has their own unique charm and character. That’s why I’m not coffee shop loyal. I’m always looking for another good place to relax with my morning coffee, and Epoch doesn’t disappoint.

Open 24 hours.

Free Wireless.

Coffee is always a good way to start the week, and Austin is full of unique and quirky coffee shops that all seem to have a personality of their own.

I’ve been to the Thunderbird on Koenig a few times. I wish I lived closer because I would definitely make it part of my morning routine.

It’s a great laid-back place for studying or stopping by for a snack. I love it because it has more than just breakfast foods. They make a killer sandwich, and they have great coffee and a surprisingly good beer selection. It’s Austin, so of course they also have live music. Follow them on facebook to keep up with upcoming shows and events!
