It’s our favorite festival institution! South X San José returns to the Hotel San José and Jo’s parking lot with live music, local vendors, and good times. Music starts at noon each day, rain or shine, and the party is always and forever free to attend. This is the ideal way to dip your toe into the festivities without getting overwhelmed. Hang in this amazing parking lot for a few hours and you can say you “did SXSW” this year.

Have fun out there y’all, and be safe!

Since 2012, when the Circuit of the Americas (aka COTA) opened in Austin, fans have been clamoring for some IndyCar action. If you don’t know what that means—IndyCar is the country’s fastest, biggest, and baddest open-wheel racing series, sort of the All American version of Formula 1.

And now it’s finally here! The inaugural IndyCar Classic will take place at COTA March 22-24.

IndyCar Spring Training at COTA

There will also be three other series racing throughout the weekend. Indy Lights, which is the class just basically the minor league of IndyCar where future stars are developing. There’s also the Mazda MX-5 Cup and the return of an old X Games favorite, Stadium Super Trucks, which go off ramps on track at about 70 mph and get some serious air..

On top of all this, Muse will perform in Austin360 Amphitheater on Saturday night! The last time they played this venue, tickets sold out fast. Both the 3-day and Saturday-only IndyCar tickets will receive access to the 200 level section and the H-E-B Lawn for the show. Optional pit and seating upgrades are available for purchase, but you don’t need them to enjoy the show. Click here for more info.

Lastly, there will be live music on the Lone Star Stage all weekend featuring local Austin legends like Asleep at the Wheel and Dale Watson to exciting up-and-comers like Jonathan Terrell.

So break out of your entertainment rut and get hip to the fun of IndyCar! It’s a crazy fun spectacle that everyone can appreciate.

Here’s something that will make your day! All pups that come in costume will be eligible for our best dressed contest and judges will be walking around all day so come dressed to impress and don’t forget to “bark for beads!”

This year’s event will be raising funds for Pug Rescue Austin! They will be onsite collecting donations! And, get this, they will also have adoptable pugs here.

Here’s the whole rundown …

THE BIG PARADE
A Doggie Mardi Gras Parade at 4 p.m. will take place in The ABGB parking lot, making one big, fun lap following a Second Line marching band.

FOOD

CAKE

Garrison Brothers’ Bourbon Takeover of Texas is officially underway and it all culminates this weekend.

People who really love whiskey know all about Garrison Brothers—because it’s the only brand making a legit, real-deal, puritanical bourbon in Texas. And the brand is spreading the joy of the good stuff with a bunch of great events.

The big finale will be Liberation & Libations, a Texas Independence Day celebration March 2nd on the balcony at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel. Come watch the parade down below in high style.

The event will bring Texas craftspeople together to highlight the rich and diverse culture of our state. Vendors will include Independence Brewing, Fairweather Cider, Fancy Fluff, Republic Boot Co., Old Enfield Supply, Bearded Buffalo, Weige Knives, Cuvée Coffee, and more. They will also have live music in the form of a “Texas Mariachi” by Parker Chapin!

And hey—some of the beverages and products being served were aged in freshly dumped Garrison Brothers barrels!

Get your tickets before they sell out right here.
