Waller Creek Conservancy, in partnership with the Austin History Center, will host Women in Jazz on Wednesday, June 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Symphony Square. This free public event celebrates Black Music Month and recreates the jazz scene experienced on Red River Street during the 50’s and 60’s. Women in Jazz will feature a discussion about the life works of Ernie Mae Miller, who enjoyed a 15-year residency at the New Orleans Club and helped usher in the beginning of Red River’s reputation as a live music destination. The evening will also include a discussion of music legend Margaret Wright’s work. To learn more, visit http://bit.ly/2HJU1MR.
