Austin Tinkering School will celebrate 10 years of tinkering with the first ever TINKERFEST including hands-on activities for kids of all ages. Teachers will lead children in a PaperCraft: Open Make, artist Elena Eidelberg will teach large scale paper marbling, and kids can participate in a build-your-own succulent planter activity in the wood shop. Guest makers in three divisions will compete in the MAKER SHOWDOWN for a chance to win prizes. Plus, enjoy complimentary drinks from Guayaki Yerba Mate or purchase food from the Kebabeliscious food truck.

The Austin Cactus and Succulent Society will host its Spring Show and Sale on Saturday and Sunday April 6th and 7th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm each day, at the Austin Area Garden Center at Zilker Botanical Garden in Zilker Park (2220 Barton Springs Road). Admission to the show is free with paid admission to Zilker Botanical Garden ($2 adults, $1 children and seniors). The show offers visitors a chance to see rare and beautiful cacti and succulent species from around the world. Hill Country Galleria is excited to announce the return of its spring Saturday Night Concert Series. Kicking off on March 23 with the Guy Forsyth Blues Band, this free 10x music series hosted by Austin City Limits Radio features local favorites such as Nakia, Dale Watson and Fastball. The concerts take place in the Central Plaza and guests are encouraged to bring a blanket to lounge on the grassy lawn during the show. Admission is free and dogs are welcome.

In celebration of its bold new artistic initiative, Opera ATX, Austin Opera is proud to present the Central Texas premiere of an innovative new multimedia work, Soldier Songs, by acclaimed composer David T. Little, April 5–6, 2019 at the historic Paramount Theatre in the heart of downtown Austin. Soldier Songs combines elements of theater, opera, rock-infused concert music, and video by filmmaker Bill Morrison to explore themes of loss, the exploitation of innocence, and the difficulty of expressing the truth of war. The libretto, created by the composer, was adapted from recorded interviews with veterans of five wars. Soldier Songs
