Barley Swine is celebrating four years on Burnet Road with a four-day discounted tasting menu offered on Sunday, January 12 and Tuesday, January 14 to Thursday, January 16. Guests can enjoy a decadent dining experience curated by seven-time James Beard finalist chef Bryce Gilmore, for $65 per person (regularly $95). The menu will feature a mix of new seasonal recipes and a few familiar favorites pulled from the Barley Swine hall of fame. A custom pairing option is available for an additional $45 per person.

Vietnamese Pho with Aromatic Vegetable Broth, Shiitake Mushrooms, Seasonal Vegetables, and Rice Noodles. Come in from the cold and learn how to make your own pho noodle soup, without MSG or other additives! You'll make a delicious and mineral-rich homemade vegetable broth with ginger and warming spices, seasonal vegetables, sautéed shiitake mushrooms, and rice noodles. Served with fresh mung bean sprouts, scallions, basil, mint, cilantro, and lime.

Sunday Morning Math Group – Learn the Math of Computers

The Sunday Morning Math Group is an outreach event targeted at 6th-12th graders which attempts to supplement math topics that aren't often covered in traditional math classes. The SMMG will be in room 4.102 of Robert Lee Moore Hall (on UT’s campus) on Sunday January 26 from 12-2pm. You'll discuss the idea of Turing machines, which is the fancy name for computers when we want to think about them by using math. Using this, you'll be able to talk about why we can prove there are some things that computers will never ever be able to do!
