    Best Spin Studios in Austin

If you haven’t been to a spin class yet, you are missing out. Try going to one that is more rhythm based—you ride to the beat of the music and it really makes for a much more fun and interactive experience. Spin classes are heavy cardio where you can burn 500-800 calories a class!

This is perfect for someone that wants to integrate more cardio into their exercise routine but doesn’t like running. It’s a  great way to drop a few lbs. and get that sweaty glow.

    Favorite Studios:

The OG spin studio of Austin. With three locations now, they probably have the largest following in ATX. Always known for excellent music, this place just feels like family, especially if you’re a part of their signature #ridetribe.

Locations: Downtown at 2nd and Lavaca next to 3 Forks, Westlake at Walsh Tarlton & Bee Caves Road, next to Cava, and Bee Caves in the Hill Country Galleria near Whole Foods and Barnes and Noble

Favorite Instructors: Allie (has taught in Houston and Austin Ride Studios for five years!), Tara (the best music and dance moves), Tasha (her body is insane!), and Mark (try his Mark after Dark classes)

Cost: $23/class (First class is free!)

Parking: Downtown – Amli or City Hall Garages, they validate (bring your parking pass in with you), Westlake – free parking in lot, Bee Caves – free parking in lot

    On ClassPass for 7-9 credits!

Soul has studios all over the nation and instructors have to travel to NYC for a 10-week training. They have great music, and the classes really push you!

Locations: Downtown in the Frost Tower (5th and Congress) and Domain Northside (the corner across from WeWork and Perry’s)

Favorite Instructors: Gustavo (also teaches at Wanderlust), Christy (hit up her Wake & Drake Class Tuesdays @ 7 a.m. Downtown), Chris Chandler (try a Soul Survivor class with him –  one hour long and has some bootcamp/weight elements)

Cost: $30/class (not on ClassPass), or $60 for a 3 Class Pack Special for new riders

Parking: They validate parking in the Frost Parking garage for Downtown Studio, and for the Domain – free parking in garages (or in the lot behind Capitol One Bank)

    Love Cycling:

Love is sleek and clean. Started by David Garza, a former spin instructor at Ride in Austin, this gym focuses on great music and choreography. They also have 60-minute classes on lunch breaks, and music video spin classes.

Locations: Downtown – 5th and Pressler (West of Lamar)

Favorite Instructors: David Garza (the owner, be ready for a dance party!), Megan Knight (be ready to sweat and stay on beat!)

Cost: $23/class ($50, 3 Class Pack Special for new members)

Parking: Free Parking Garage connected to building

    On ClassPass for 5-9 credits!

So how was everyone’s weekend? It was a great weekend to call yourself an Austinite so many great things going on around town.

I thought we might as well take advantage of these sunny days and enjoy the great outdoors. This weather makes me want to tackle all those things that I keep swearing I’ll try soon, like stand up paddle boarding, an adventure race and maybe even a mini-triathlon.

Having said that, my main struggle with doing a triathlon is the biking end of it all. With Austin being such a cyclist friendly town I am shocked that I haven’t spent more time bike riding. There are so many opportunities to get out and ride. Today Nelo’s Cycles does a great 20-25 mile loop that starts at their shop of Mesa.

The ride lasts an hour to an hour and half and average pace is 15-17 mph.

          Mondays: 7:00pm

Please feel free to share other rides that happen around town this summer – I am all about enjoying the outdoors! Let’s keeping on keeping Austin Fit! I think Lance Armstrong would appreciate today’s post!
