dazed and confused

I have said it before and I’ll say it again, this fall weather is perfect for Movies In The Park. And seeing Dazed and Confused is basically a right of passage for Austinites.

Hence the name, there is ‘sound’ and ‘cinema’ so prior to the film Scorpion Child will be doing a little pre-movie concert for you followed by the ‘cinema’ portion of the evening, Dazed and Confused. This movie is a classic Austin staple, I myself can’t get enough of Mr. McConaughey, and Dazed and Confused is one of those feel good movies that only gets better under a crisp cool Austin sky. For those who don’t know, this movie was filmed right here on our home turf!

Come hungry because the following food trailers will be there as well:

Feel free to bring your own picnic basket, and don’t forget a sweater because after that sun goes down it gets pretty chilly, trust me.  Also, dogs are NOT encouraged at this event, so leave fido at home.

“…it’d  be a lot cooler if you did.”

Dazed and Confused is basically a right of passage and today the Austin Film Society is celebrating the 20th Anniversary.  There will be a screening of the film followed by a Q&A session with some of the cast.

This is one of those films that Austinites enjoy since it was filmed in Austin.  Even though I wasn’t an Austinite when it was filmed 20 years ago, I still recognize many of the famous Austin scenes.  The moontown party was filmed at West Enfield Park, The Emporium on North Lamar is now the “Violet Crown Shopping Center,” and can’t forget Top Notch Burgers which I’m sure hasn’t changed since the movie was filmed.

As far as movies go, it’s pretty much a classic in my book and worth celebrating the 20th Anniversary.
