    Children, it is time to put those art skills to the test for a chance to win amazing chocolate! Delysia Chocolatier will host our annual chocolate Easter egg decorating competition on Palm Sunday, April 14th.

    Children from all over Central Texas are invited to visit our Culinary Center. You will be given a white chocolate Easter egg & edible ink markers for creative decorating purposes. The decorated eggs will be photographed & posted on Delysia Chocolatier’s website, our community & followers will vote for their favorite. The top three eggs that receive the most votes by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 21st will receive a golden egg filled with our chocolate truffles, barks, and molded chocolates. The winners will be announced on Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter on Monday, April 22nd.

    Parents, as your children decorate their eggs, you’re invited to kick back, relax and enjoy a complimentary drink at our Culinary Center. We look forward to you joining us!

    Kids and adults of all ages will be movin’ and groovin’ at the Hush Hush Music Bash, a FREE family-friendly event that will take place at The Domain. For those who can’t make it to ACL Music Festival and have FOMO (fear of missing out), Hush Hush is the perfect way to get your live music fix while preparing your kids to be future festival-goers in a smaller, more intimate setting.

    From babes in strollers to teens, kids of all ages are welcome!

    Fun activities include:
    – Rain stick making at the Bright Horizons at Westlake booth
    – Jumping on Springfree Trampolines
    – Giveaways
    – Cool down with Steel City Pops (available for purchase)
    – Dance contest

    Make it a movie day and watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in IMAX® 3D on the biggest screen in Texas! Tickets are still available and can be purchased online or at the Museum’s ticketing counter. Screenings on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 1:00 p.m., 4:05 p.m., 7:15 p.m., and 10:20 p.m.

    Come dressed for the Rebellion! Please note: large props are not allowed into the theater and must be stored in a visitors service locker or vehicle prior to showtime.

    Celebrate fall, Halloween and Oktoberfest at these fun, family-friendly events happening this weekend in Austin!

    Boo at the Zoo

    When: Friday and Saturday, October 14 &15 from 6:30-9 p.m.

    Where: Austin Zoo, 10808 Rawhide Trail

    Boo at the Zoo is a fun-filled evening for ghosts and goblins of any age. Come dressed in your Halloween finest (no adult masks, please) and enjoy this Zoo-wide event including the Zoo bedecked in Halloween spookiness, nocturnal animals, unlimited trips through the Haunted Mansion and an eerie train ride. Cost: $15

    Oktoberfest at the German-Texas Heritage Society

    When: Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 11a.m. to 8 p.m.

    Where: German Free School, 507 East 10th Street

    Take a stroll through the beautiful historic gardens while listening to live music, sipping German beers and tasting German food! Kids of all ages will be entertained with a magic show, balloon art, storytime and more. Great food from Frank’s  and Pfeifers’s Bakery and outstanding German Beer are also at your fingertips during this fun filled event. Admission: $7 in advance, $10 at the door, 12 and under are free.

    Red Barn’s PumpkinFest 2016

    When: Saturday, October 15, 2016, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

    Where: Red Barn Garden Center, 12881 Pond Springs Road

    Kids of all ages will have fun at this annual festival with a bounce house, petting zoo and pumpkins, too! FREE!

    North by Northwest Oktoberfest

    When: Saturday and Sunday, October 15-16, 2016

    Where: North by Northwest, 10010 Capital Texas Highway, Austin

    Enjoy authentic German food and beer, live music, activities for kids including: bounce houses, face painting, Nate the Great Balloon Artist, and a bratwurst eating contest and a wiener dog costume contest, plus more at this event that gives back to local charities. Admission: $2 donation.

    Rosita y Conchita at Austin Scottish Rite Theater

    When: Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 11 am

    Where: Austin Scottish Rite Theater, 207 W. 18th Street

    Two sisters try to reunite on the Day of the Dead. Along the way Rosita keeps getting lost, but she miraculously finds her way to Conchita through familiar sounds, sights and smells. Kids of all ages will love the rhyming bilingual dialogue and touching images. Cost: $12 adults, $8 children.

    Pflugerville’s 41st Annual Deutschen Fest

    When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 20-22, 2016

    Where: Pfluger Park, City Park Road, Pflugerville

    Pflugerville celebrates its German heritage with this annual family-friendly festival that features a carnival, live music, a parade (Saturday morning at 10:45 am), food and drink vendors including German beer and sausages, shopping, a kid’s area and a 5K run. Admission: $5 Friday, $7 Saturday, $5 Sunday. Children 6 and under are free.

    Kidgits Meet Me at the Market

    Kidgits is heading outside to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday. Kids can make their own canvas art out of vegetables and enjoy a market wide scavenger hunt! Cost: $5 annual membership.
